Morning Mizzle

You showed up on my bedroom shutters,
with a light and playful, pitter-patter,
a zillion, tiny, drops of drizzle
delighting in a dewy dance.

Eyes closed, body still, I keenly listened,
to your hypnotic, steady, soothing rhythm,
and when the misty music suddenly ended,
I had fallen into a dreamy trance.

Morning,
your mood today is dark and lazy,
despite dawn's debut of rainy energy,
so, until the sun dries up your puddles,
I'll stay warm and snug in my cocoon covers.

Inspired by this morning's mizzle,
written for Poets United, Midweek Motif

    1. We don`t get many such days, here, on the island, so when they do occur, they are always greeted with a smile.

  2. Ah, I'll remind myself of your delight in a drizzly morning when we get into the rainy period forecast later in the week. Maybe I'll even cocoon under the covers for a sleep-in, if BreeBree and James Mason will let me, and wait to be energized when the sun returns. Now I'm yawning, Poppy dear! Your lines are making me long for the coming rainy days ahead.

    1. I know how much you love autumn, rainy days and all, and you must be especially cozy, with your fur babies cuddled next to you.

  3. Poppy! It is so good to see you popping in again. Smiles. I love your morning.........it is always lovely to move slowly as the day begins.......I enjoy that so much, after all the years of working and rushing.

    1. Every morning should be a `lie-in` type of morning, where one can linger in the luxury of not having to rush out to work, in retirement, right?:)

  8. It's always beautiful waking up in the warmth of the covers with the sound of a light drizzle on the window ledge. I love how you portrayed the trance it brings about in its peaceful quality. Also, the final stanza is so very sweet. I really liked this verse!

That light, staccato drip-drop of the rain against the window or the shutters is one of my favourite sounds.

    1. Thank you. Unfortunately, have not been inspired to write poems for a while, but my love of photography has, for the time, provided me with my creative fix, over on Instagram, where I write captions for my pics.

Happy Tuesday and thanks for stopping by.
